Guns 4 Hire is a free to play mobile top down squad based action-strategy shooter with character upgrade progression. For this game I worked with another designer to create screen layouts and UI artwork across the game.
Main Menu
As a squad based game the primary focus of the main menu was on the player's characters, their status and clearly surfaced actions to prepare for playing missions as well as surfacing monetised elements to support those core squad state elements. By surfacing this information in the main menu this allowed players to quickly understand their status enabling them to jump straight into playing more missions without too many additional steps.
Mission Select
For the mission select screen I kept a theme of military-esque visual motifs with rank chevrons and military patch shape language for level difficulty. As certain levels may require certain loadout considerations, the player could also access those elements from this screen too.
Currency Shop
For the currency shop I went with theming of a make shift supermarket using harsher warfare elements such as a tank tread for a conveyor belt, dog tags for a sort of till label and created currency bundle theming like food/cereal packaging. The player could swipe through bundle items on the tank tread conveyor belt, furthering the supermarket motif.
Most Wanted
Guns 4 Hire had a most wanted as a card collection progression feature and a means to encourage return play.
Start Mission
The start mission screen displayed a high level summary of the mission description, any objectives and sub objectives and also allowed the player to customise the level of difficulty before starting.
Pause Menu
As well as pausing the game, the pause menu surfaced the most critical information to the player at a glance they could quickly check before returning to gameplay.
Level Rewards
For the rewards screen I created metal medallions again to tie into a military type feeling and also created the currency icons. The key goal for this screen was for it to feel rewarding and celebratory but still to progress through quickly quickly in order to get back into another level, so the level of information in this screen was quite minimal.

Character Concepts
Guns 4 Hire has a quest giver character and as the overall gameplay and theming is quite masculine I was asked to concept some female characters which were not used in the end.
